The football and rugby teams at a York primary school are now stepping out in style thanks to sponsorship from a multinational company.

Cargill, which employs 25 people at their cocoa and chocolate plant in York, have provided shirts, shorts and socks to the teams from Haxby Road Primary Academy. The company has already provided PE kits for the school children, most recently for the Reception children who joined Haxby Road this year.

Drew Hackett, Plant Manager at Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate said: “We’re delighted to continue supporting the school in this way. It’s great to see the children sporting their first team kits.” Helen Suter from the Family & Pupil Support Team at Haxby Road Primary Academy adds: “The children are already very excited about playing sport and being part of a team, so having a kit which brings them all together and makes them look like a team is fantastic. The kits really help to foster that sense of belonging that we work hard to achieve at the school. We’re really grateful to Cargill for their ongoing sponsorship.”

Haxby Road Primary Academy, part of the Ebor Academy Trust, recently received a ‘Good’ rating in their Ofsted inspection.
