Haxby Road News 14.2.20

A message from the Co-Heads of School…

Our final week before half term has been so busy and filled with exciting learning.

The whole school did a fabulous job in making the past come to life by dressing up as their favourite historical person of the 20th Century. They were given the opportunity to show their character in true style on the catwalk. Thank you to all parents who attended and supported their children.

Year 6 children invited their parents into school for a “Parent Inspire.” The children became the teachers as they presented information via their own PPTs for their audience. Well done Year Six!

Our final week, also sees Haxby Road Academy saying a “Good bye and Good Luck!” to Mrs Phillips. Mrs Phillips has been an assistant teacher for over nine and a half years, where she dedicated her time and support to so many children. We will all miss her and we would like to wish her the very best of luck.

Finally, we would like to wish everyone a happy half term and we will see everyone on Monday 24th February

Mrs Malster-Hinett & Mrs Winter

KS1 Musical – Blast Off!

The children in KS1 performed an amazing musical called, “Blast Off!” The children sang beautifully and performed confidently for their parents. This incredible show has really helped to support the children’s learning linked to their science space topic. Thank you to all the parents who attended the performance and supported their children.

Well done KS1!!

Smarties Challenge

Over Half Term!!

This week the children have received a tube of Smarties from the Friends of Haxby Road to say “well done” for all their hard work this term! Once they have enjoyed their treat, we would like the parents to give them small jobs at home so that they can earn some small change to fill their Smarties tube back up.

We would like to ask the children to return their filled tubes back to school by Friday 28th February at 9am. There will be a prize for the class who returns the most tubes. This could be a movie afternoon with popcorn, a class party or a PJs day.

Year 5 Watch The Adam’s Family

Year 5 went to Joseph Rowntrees School to watch a whole school production of, The Adam’s Family.

Kasey Speight from Micklegate class said:

“Everybody was really good, but my favourite character was Wednesday. My favourite part was when Uncle Fester started dancing on the graves and then he summoned all of the ancestors. Gomez’s accent was truly amazing! I absolutely loved the show and I want to go again!!”
