Haxby Road News 8.3.19

A message from the Head of School…
Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended parent consultation week. The children love to share their work with you and show you how hard they are working. It also gives the teacher time to talk to you about how much progress your child is making and their next steps. If you have missed your appointment there is still time next week to make a new one. I would also like to say thank you to everyone who has donated clothes for our ‘bags 2 school’ project. Bag to school is a free fundraising scheme, for anyone wanting to raise funds using a resource EVERYONE has in their wardrobes-unwanted clothes! They work in partnership with schools, businesses, community
groups and local councils to help raise funds from your donations. Today is World Book Day and the children have been taking part in some very exciting events. This year we have had a competition to decorate a little spoon as your favourite book character! The entries have blown us away and we will be announcing the winners in next Friday in assembly! We have also had lots of spectacular activities happening in lessons to celebrate World Book Day and our love of reading including sharing mathematical books, making book marks and hearing new stories!
Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate class have been Pizzaiolos for the day at pizza Express this week! They arrived in their World Book Day costumes and had great fun making pizzas. Yum!
